To be honest, I think I’ve forgotten how to write.

I feel introductions are the hardest sections to write because it puts so much pressure on the writer.

When writing an introduction, you must choose the right cult of words that will captivate a readers attention in 20 seconds or less. If you fail, the chances of the reader reaching the next paragraph drop drastically.

Did you know that 64% of readers will not read past the headline or introduction of an article if it is not catchy enough?

I know what you’re thinking but hear me out.

We all know what jealousy means or at least have a rough idea, but for the sake of this article, I’ll define it.

Jealousy means experiencing thoughts/feelings of fear, strong concern, insecurity over a relative lack of possessions or safety.

Growing up in Nigeria, you and I believed jealousy is a feeling experienced solely by wicked people. …

Editor’s note: read part 1 (hey, I wrote you a love letter)

I wrote these words for you,

every single letter is true.

If you’re reading this,

know that I love you.

Hi, it’s been a while. I miss you and when I say I miss you, I mean to say I miss seeing the dimples on your face when you smile, I miss the lingering scent your perfume leaves when you exit a room. I miss having your fingers intertwined with mine and your skin brushing against mine when we hug. I miss the way your hair smells like…

Speed bumps are ridges set at intervals in a road surface to intentionally reduce the speed of vehicles. You’re driving at 80km/hr and you’re approaching a speed bump in 20 metres, you automatically slow down so you can pass. The speed bump essentially slows you down. Most times, there are 3 to 4-speed bumps in a row which you have to pass through before you’re back on your way. Sometimes, this can be frustrating especially when you’re in a hurry or you’re enjoying the smooth ride you’ve been on.

I’ve been hitting a lot of…

It is no surprise that Nigeria is a tough place for women to live in. Every day, there are new challenges rising to the surface to test the resilience of women who live here. There are lots of examples I could cite to prove my point, but that’s an article to be written at a different time.

Heading to work sometime last week, as I rushed to secure the front seat of the cab —it’s the most comfortable seat – I glanced behind to see the other passengers that filled up the back seats. They…

Direction can be defined as the course along which something moves, or it can also be said to be the management or guidance under something or someone.

I haven’t written anything worth publishing in a long time but decided to write about this because it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot and said to myself, “why not put it in words”.

As an adult now, I’m forced to figure out things for myself and find out what direction I want to go with my life and I have to say, it’s really not easy at all. …

“each scar tells a story” — ME

A scar as defined by the Oxford dictionary is a mark left on the skin or within body tissue where a wound, burn, or sore has not healed completely and fibrous connective tissue has developed.

It is described as a physical mark on a body.

We all have scars. Scars got from doing a various number of things, it could be from an accident, some childhood games or self-inflicted injuries. They create scars all the same.

Most people are scared of their scars and embarrassed by them, I mean…

There are a few things that keep almost everyone up, the fear of not living up to our expectations, disappointing our parents, being a failure in life and many others. I’m human so these things also keep me up some nights.

Recently another thought joined the bandwagon of depressive thoughts that make me toss and turn, one that was inspired by a recent romantic comedy (which I should have skipped but these days they’re all Hollywood seems to make).

Let me give a little back story into this.

Most people have that one thing or scenario…

Roses are red

Violets are blue

I wrote a love letter

Just for you

How do I start? what do I say? how long should this be? I honestly have no idea but hey here goes nothing.

Have you ever seen a sunset? And I mean really seen one, not just a glance upwards to see a red sky but purposely looking at the clouds in the sky as the colours mix together and the hue blends in with its surroundings and the sun sink down into the horizon as everything fades to black?

Well, I’ve seen one, more than…

Editor’s note :read part 1 here excerpt from the voices in my head

What does hell look like? I’ve always imagined mine constituting of a steady replay of Taylor Swift songs with interludes of Shakespearean quotes, and trust me that’s torture on a whole different plane but then again I don’t plan on finding out how hell looks like for whatsoever reason, some days I see snippets of what it could be, days that nothing goes right and even if something does its setting you up for a larger let down.

Plans for my life? At…
